Scott Patrick Wiener to visit UMaine IMRC Center

Artist Scott Wiener will be visiting the University of Maine this month as a part of Tuesday’s at the IMRC, an artist lecture series. The lecture will take place at the IMRC Center, located on the UMaine campus in Orono, on October 6th at 7:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Wiener spent his early life traveling from one military base to another, never spending more than four years in one place at a time. The work he produces is a direct result of an attempt to hold onto time and place – to stabilize it. He proceeds accordingly by using lens-based media to examine how place generates antagonistic points of reference for both public and private histories.

Scott will be in residence for several days. In addition to his lecture, Wiener will conduct studio visits for UMaine Intermedia MFA students. To see Scott’s work, visit
