Workshop #6: Toys ‘r’ You – Toymaking and Moving Parts with Fusion 360 – Thursday, April 14th at noon
Led by Matt Shultz
Join us at the IMRC labs to learn how to apply CAD techniques to the world of toys! Have you ever wanted to make cool accessories for your toys and action figures, or make your own toys? With the 3D printing and laser cutting equipment at the IMRC, anyone can be a toymaker! In this short workshop we’ll learn:
- How to use CAD software to make interlocking parts, and even model their action before we make them
- Use calipers to make precise measurements so that your parts will work with your existing toys and accessories
- How to adjust your models so that what comes off the 3D printer or laser cutter actually fits and works in the real world
Even if you’re not interested in toys, you can still come to learn about making your parts work together. Basic knowledge of Fusion 360 or 123D Design would be very helpful, but isn’t required.
