Discover Stories of Maine Through Downeast Visions: A Film and Dialogue Series
We’re thrilled to announce the launch of Downeast Visions, a new film and dialogue series dedicated to showcasing the rich, diverse, and deeply personal stories told by Maine filmmakers. With the generous support from the Alton Fund ’38, the Adelaide Hamm Campus Activity Fund, and the Clement and Linda McGillicuddy Humanities Center, we can celebrate the creative spirit rooted right here in our own backyard—bringing local talent and compelling narratives to the forefront.
What is Downeast Visions?
Downeast Visions is more than just a film series; it’s a community experience. It is a place for students of the University of Maine and the local community to see the tangible experience of filmmakers from our beautiful state. Each screening features a film made by a Maine filmmaker or set in Maine, highlighting the unique culture, landscapes, and voices of our state. After each film, audiences are invited to participate in a lively Q&A session with the filmmakers or special guests, fostering dialogue and deeper engagement with the stories on screen.
